How it goes: painting
Yep, it's OK to mash the brush a little like that.
Paint gets on clothes... That's no problem.
Sure! Try it.
What happens if you mix the water colors and the tempera?
We can wipe it up later.
What happens if you mix the yellow and the blue?
Two brushes at a time is A-OK.
Yes.
Go for it.
It is fun, isn't it?

do you know - white rabbit's color book - ? don't remember who wrote it, but your post reminds me.
(looks like fun!)

Yay! I love such freedom... :) Whenever we do watercolors Felix mixes all the colors together...but who cares! Everything goes in our house too (well...almost everything...)

It has taken a lot for me to let go like that. I know it's best for their creativity but oh how my brain yells "keep it on the paper" and "no, don't mix ALL the colors together"! Luckily, I can keep my trap shut. It's good to learn how to relax from your kids.

I really have to screw my courage to the sticking place to bust out the super messy art stuff these days. Half of me is delighted by their enthusiastic explorations- the other half is cringing as the paint drips all over the floor, and glue goes in the hair, and the glitter gets dumped- the WHOLE bottle of glitter. Eeep! But, it's fun for them, so I try to make it fun for me too. If only I had a full time maid...
